Delahey and General Storage Information

Delahey is a suburb in Melbourne, located 20 km northwest of the city’s Central Business District. At the 2021 census, it recorded a population of 8,077. Its local government area is the City of Brimbank.

This lovely little suburb originally consisted of several farming properties. In the mid-to-late 1980s, the government acquired the land for re-subdivision as residential properties for the most part.

It was named after William Delahey, who arrived from Ireland with his parents and siblings in June 1840. He had been associated with the Keilor Shire Council for 18 years and was elected president from 1882 to 1883. Delahey’s name was officially adopted in 1994.

The size of Delahey is roughly 3.6 square kilometres. It contains 10 parks which cover approximately 4.7% of the total land area. What people love about it is its close proximity to everything, whether that be Watergardens, Brimbank, Caroline Springs and Keilor Downs shopping centres, or Delahey village with the new Supa Valu.
