Mount Duneed and General Storage Information

Mount Duneed is a suburb of Geelong, in the state of Victoria. At the 2016 Census, it had a population of 1,578. Its local government areas are Surf Coast Shire and the City of Greater Geelong.

This family-friendly suburb is actually an extinct volcano and you can see the remains of the crater in the Mount Duneed Recreation Reserve.

Much of the district situated north of Lower Duneed Road forms part of the massive Armstrong Creek Growth Area, which authorities opened up in 2010 for urban development. Two years later, the suburb of Armstrong Creek was gazetted and the southern boundary of Mount Duneed, between Horseshoe Bend Road and the Surf Coast Highway, followed the boundary of the Armstrong Creek Urban Growth Area.

The region located north of Boundary Road, west of the Surf Coast Highway and south of the Warrnambool railway line, eventually became part of Mount Duneed.

The suburb remains predominantly agricultural with beef, cattle, canola, and hay grown on small properties. The only distinct public structures in Mount Dunned include a small wooden meeting hall, St. Wilfrid’s Anglican church, the bus shelter, and the consolidated Mount Duneed primary school.
