Lara is a small town just out of Geelong in Victoria’s South West Coast region. It is located 18 kilometres northeast of the Geelong central business district, inland from the Princes Freeway to Melbourne. At the 2016 Census, it had a population of 16,355. Its local government area is the City of Greater Geelong.

This country town is home to some historic buildings, nice restaurants, and the resplendent Serendip Sanctuary. It’s also the site of the Avalon Airshow and the Avalon Airport which is Melbourne’s second airfield.
