Southbank and General Storage Information
Southbank is an inner-city suburb in Melbourne, located 1 kilometre south of the city's Central Business District. At the 2021 census, it recorded a population of 22,631. Its local government areas are the Cities of Melbourne and Port Phillip.
This vibrant suburb is bordered by the Yarra River to the north, and by St Kilda Road to the east. The southern and western sections are bounded by Dorcas St., Ferrars St., Kings Way, Market St., and a triangle bordered by Gladstone St., Montague St., and the West Gate Freeway.
Southbank was previously a largely industrial area and merely forms part of the City of South Melbourne and the locality of South Melbourne. In the early 1990s, it was transformed into a densely populated locale consisting of high-rise apartment complexes and office buildings.
Today, Southbank features a preponderance of high-rise development and is currently one of Melbourne’s most densely populated areas, with a huge cluster of apartment towers.
